Curse of the Citadel

On the horizon, the silhouettes of countless towers stand out in the night sky. Graceful and fragile they appear on the tangle of rocks and cliffs that form a natural defense against advancing armies….
Many stories about the curse of the citadel have reached you in many languages.
Countless lords resided in this ancient fortress over the millennia. But none of these kings and generals could escape the curse and soon became part of their history themselves …
..in the red light of the glowing coals, their weathered statues stare into the black darkness that lurks behind the ruined battlements…
Its towers reach high into the sky, and its tunnels and dungeons, hidden deep beneath the castle walls, reach just as deep into the earth, so that there should even be access points to the ancient tunnels of the dwarves….
Will your courage and bravery be enough to recover the hidden treasures and secrets?

Good Luck Adventurers!

Curse of the Citadel Classic Dungeon Tile Floor Set

Castle Tile Set

In the citadel there are halls and corridors with floors made of old stone tiles, painted in a variety of colors over the course of time. They are a testimony to those who resided in the citadel.

Basic Wall Set

The Basic Wall Set is designed to create scatter setups in combination with Wall Scenerys. They are also used to fill gaps on the playing field, e.g. when Wall Scenerys are used in neighboring rooms. Finally, you can of course use this set to create a continuous wall if you wish.

Wall Scenery Set

The Wall Sceneries can be used to display individual themes for the rooms. They are a core element of the Diorama Tiles concept and, like all walls, can be combined with all floor elements as desired.

Door Set

Doors are available in open and closed versions. Some people do not glue the elements together so that the doors are easier to swap.

Curse of the Citadel Doors

Single/Detachable Columns

The individual columns are designed in such a way that the column and floor base are separated from each other so that the columns can be stored more easily. This also has the advantage that the floor base can be used several times in different color schemes if different colors are used for the tiles.

Cliff Set

The Cliff Set is the first Special Scenery Set that I have created. It breaks the grid and provides a visual highlight in your dungeon as a border element. Will the heroes manage not to fall into the abyss?

Placeholder

The placeholder element is used to dock onto closed doors. It is removed and replaced with the corresponding setup as soon as the door is opened. It is also ideal for representing an entrance or exit to a dungeon.
Otherwise, it is simply a visually attractive finish for a diorama.

Diorama Border Set

Diorama Borders are basically designed for use in the display case. They provide a nice finish to the setup and draw the eye to the scene.
Of course, they can also be used as borders for an entire board or for parts of the dungeon.

Wargaming Transitions

Wargaming Transitions establish the connection between the dungeon and wargaming terrain. They make it possible to integrate smaller setups on the battlefield. This is particularly interesting for skirmish games if you don’t want to print an entire board,

Curse of the Citadel Wargaming Transition

OpenLOCK Transition

The OpenLOCK Transition element not only connects to the OpenLOCK Standard but also bridges the height difference between the elements. Please note that some OpenLOCK elements are offered in inches and others in millimeters. This may require scaling of the Dungeon Tiles (see Scaling in the brochure)

About this Project

The “Curse of the Citadel” is the setting of epic dungeon adventures: as an ancient fortress, with its tunnels and halls of stone, the rocky cliffs and massive pillars, it represents all settings in adventures where the heroes have to face unknown challenges in threatening castles …

Diorama Gaming Board
With the project “Curse of the Citadel” I realize my first Diorama Gaming Board, as a 3D-Printable STL-File-Set, with which you can build a modular tabletop gaming board.
The concept also allows you to assemble small dioramas from the elements, which can be perfectly integrated into any display case for presentation of your home miniature collection.

Field grid
The gaming board is constructed on the basis of a grid with a field size of 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm. Thus it fits perfectly into many common dungeon systems.

Compatibility/Locking System
To allow transitions to other boards/game systems, I added an OpenLOCK stair element to compensate for the height difference between floor tiles. This allows “Curse of the Citadel” to be perfectly integrated into other dungeon boards as a heroic setting.
All elements are available with my two options. SOCKETS designed for 5mm Neodyn ball magnets. On the gaming table the locking system is 100% invisible. Alternatively you can use standalone LOCKS, if you don´t want to use magnets.

Tested and optimzed for FDM Printing
I print all 3D designs on my FDM printer (Bresser Rex FDM Printer / Flashforge Adventurer 3) – so by looking at the photos of the prints you can see on this page, you have a good reference of what to expect as a print result.
Alle files are provided without supports.

Painting
Here you can find a first little painting tutorial, as I was often asked how I painted the fire and the glow effect. I will try to publish new tutorials here on the homepage in the course of the year.

What´s Next?
Now that I have successfully completed my first campaign, it is time to develop new expansions.
I am already working on the “Great Hall” expansion and will report on this on my homepage.
